Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a work-based intervention program designed to assist employees in resolving personal issues that may affect the employee’s performance. The core service of EAP is confidential counseling. Confidential counseling is a short-term and solution-focused service offered to individual employees. Employees and immediate family members (in some cases) have 24/7 access to qualified counselors for any psychological problems. EAP also focuses on proactive and preventive measures to help organizations better understand and prepare for mental health issues arising from work/life situations. The focus in EAP is to enhance the level of the employee’s well-being and to promote a positive workplace culture.
With untreated mental health conditions resulting in over 6 million lost working days and 12 million days of reduced productivity every year in Australia RMs – EAP can provide professional support to help workers experiencing mental health issues, such as anxiety or depression, to stay at or return to work, benefiting both the worker and the business.
For employers in Australia, addressing mental health conditions is of paramount importance due to the significant impact on productivity. With untreated mental health conditions resulting in over 6 million lost working days and 12 million days of reduced productivity every year in Australia, it’s crucial to provide support to workers experiencing issues like anxiety or depression. RMs – EAP is well-equipped to offer professional assistance to these workers, facilitating their ability to either stay at work or return to work, a move that ultimately benefits both the employees and the business.
Employers should consider RMs – EAP for several reasons:
Quality of Service: RMs – EAP offers a full-service model that includes on-demand telephone counselling provided by experienced and qualified counselors. This ensures that employees receive the support they need promptly and from professionals who understand the nuances of mental health.
Cost-Effective: RMs – EAP is a cost-effective solution. They charge significantly lower hourly rates compared to other Employee Assistance Program (EAP) providers. This can help employers provide valuable support to their employees without incurring exorbitant costs.
By choosing RMs – EAP, employers can demonstrate their commitment to the well-being of their workforce while also managing costs effectively, which can lead to a healthier, more productive work environment.
EAP Counselling is focused on resolving employee psychological issues with the help of a qualified professional counsellor. People turn to counselling when they feel depressed, anxious, bullied, under stress or at crossroads in their lives. EAP Counselling gives them the chance to talk things through, very often relieving building emotional pressure, clearing the way for them to focus and decide what to do next. EAP Counselling can provide your employees with a sense of direction in working through their problems.
Common issues client discuss during counselling include:
One of the main inhibitors to using an EAP service is the uncertainty about privacy and confidentiality. RMsEAP understands confidentiality is crucial; therefore, employees are advised about confidentiality both prior to and during the first EAP counselling session. If an individual client wishes for the organisation to know about their counselling, the employee must sign a release of information form specifying the content and conditions of any disclosure of information. AccessEAP is attentive to our responsibilities for the confidentiality of individual client’s undertaking counselling and their employer organisation, as well as its obligations under the law. We are extremely sensitive to both the legal and ethical confidentiality requirements.

RMs – EAP is a diverse, equitable & inclusive employer with a multicultural taskforce. Counsellors are employed on a full time basis & remunerated according to award conditions. Each client is allocated a dedicated counsellor/psychologist to ensure continuity of services & to minimizing the need for employees to repeat their story. Unlike most other EAP providers, RMs – EAP does not employee casual contract counsellors/psychologists to ensure quality control.
Whlie there are a number of variables which may influence usage, such as critical incidents & workplace culture, the industry standard is the 10-5 Rule: 10% of employees will use the service 5 times annually. For example, if you have 100 employees: 100 X 10% X 5 = 50 hours.
