VOCAT – Counselling Paperwork – Northern-VAP

Thank you for agreeing to provide counselling services for the above-named client. As discussed, the Victims Assistance Program (VAP) will pay for up to the above number of counselling sessions at per session. In accepting this referral, the Northern VAP asks that you:

1. Prepare a psychological report for the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT) if required by the client’s solicitor (if your assessment is that this is appropriate). Please note:

- Invoices for payment for reports need to be directed to VOCAT, not the VAP. This letter does not constitute an authority from VOCAT to prepare a report and does not guarantee payment for a report. - VOCAT will require the client to submit a formal application before considering payment for a report. Please read the VOCAT practice guidelines available at www.vocat.vic.gov.au regarding the preparation and payment of reports to VOCAT.

- The Northern VAP intake and case management service can provide practical support and guidance to clients to assist them make a VOCAT application (e.g., linking the client with a solicitor).

2. Are available to provide counselling beyond the VAP funded sessions, if your assessment is that further counselling is needed and that it is appropriate that you provide it. Please note:

- If, according to your assessment, the client requires further counselling an application to VOCAT may be made.

- As above, invoices for payment for further counselling need to be directed to VOCAT, not the VAP. This letter does not constitute an authority from VOCAT for counselling and does not guarantee payment of these sessions.

- Clients may also access funding from other sources e.g., Medicare.
